First Time Skydivers FAQ

  • How long will it take to complete my tandem jump?

From your reservation time, we ask that you plan half your day with us to complete your tandem jump.  The time you are here can vary and depends upon the day, time, and the size of the tandem group scheduled. Enjoy our facilities while you are here!
  • Can I bring my friends and family to watch?

YES!  We have so much to do here so bring everyone!  We have a swimming pool, food at The Bent Prop Saloon and Cookery as well as indoor skydiving at SkyVenture AZ . Your friends and family can stay by your side up until the moment you board the tram to get to the airplane. They can meet up with you as soon as you land and your instructor releases you from your harness.
  • Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, no pets are allowed. Much like other recreational facilities such as golfing, pets are best left at home.
  • Are there any age limitations?

You must be at least 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit as long as you are healthy and have no physical or health restrictions.
  • What kind of paperwork is involved before making my jump?

In the classroom, we will have you watch a video and ask you to fill out an Assumption of Risk Agreement and UPT Jumper Agreement.
  • Why can't I fill out the paperwork prior to coming out and jumping?

The paperwork you must fill out can only be completed onsite and must be witnessed by a representative of Adventures in Skydiving.
  • Why should men be under 220 lbs. and women under 200 lbs.?

If you are over the weight limit, we must determine if the opportunity to make a skydive is possible. Someone could be denied based on physical limitations, which include height, weight, and body shape.
  • What do I need to bring with me on the day of the jump?

In order to jump, please be sure to bring a valid government issued photo ID.  You will not be allowed to jump without it.  If you have a Military or Student ID, be sure to bring it since we do offer a discount with your ID.
If you have medical insurance, be prepared to provide the company name.
If you wear glasses or contacts, contacts are preferred.  Glasses can come off in free fall even with the googles we provide.
Bring layers for clothing in case it is much colder at altitude.  Also bring gloves for colder temperatures.
  • Are lockers provided?

We do have lockers for our customers so you don't have to worry about your valuables while you are up in the air.
  • What clothing should I wear?

Dress in seasonably comfortable clothing and bring layers.  In the winter, wear pants, a sweatshirt, and also bring gloves.  For summer, shorts and t-shirt are best. Sports shoes are recommended.  No open toed shoes, flip flops, sandals, or hard heeled boots.
Due to COVID and new policies, at this time we will not be providing jumpsuits for tandem customers.
  • Can I wear my prescription glasses?

Everyone is offered goggles and we do have goggles that can go over prescription glasses. However, if not wearing them won't take away from your experience, we recommend the low profile goggles since we cannot guarantee you will land with your prescription glasses.
  • What type of payment do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex or cash.  (We have an ATM located on site in the office and one located at the Bent Prop Saloon and Cookery Restaurant)
  • Can I get a video of my jump?

Yes!  You have the option to purchase a PRO Video, expertly edited to highlight your experience.  You only have your first jump once! Check out some of our past customers videos!
  • Can we get one video for our entire group?

No. The camera person can only jump with one person at a time due to the gap in distance/time between each jumpers exit.
  • Can I take my camera or any other devices on the skydive with me?

Due to safety issues and skydiving regulations, you cannot take anything on the skydive with you.  If you would like to get a video or pictures of your skydive, we have different options.  Check out some of our past customers!
  • Will I be given a helmet?

No.  We can provide a soft frap hat to wear at your request, but no hard helmets for the safety of our Instructors.
  • How fast do I fall?

Freefall averages 120 miles per hour or 200ft per second.
  • What height will we jump from?

Weather permitting, you will jump from at least 13,000 feet AGL (Above Ground Level).
  • What will the skydive feel like?

To describe the sensation you feel in freefall is more of a floating sensation rather than falling.  It will be your most exhilarating experience yet!
  • Can I breathe in freefall?

Yes. Although you will feel the wind in your face, you will be able to breathe and we highly suggest doing so!
  • Will I be scared?

It is normal to be apprehensive about jumping from an airplane. The airplane ride up is typically where most students feel the most anxiety, but few jumpers report feeling anything but exhilaration once they've left that door!
  • Are the landings hard?

  • How long do I fall?

You will freefall almost 60 seconds.
  • How experienced are the instructors?

All of our instructors are certified by the United States Parachute Association. We do not contract any instructor with less than 1,000 skydives.
  • Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes.  If you have a reservation between 1-15 people you must cancel at least 48 hours prior to your reservation time to avoid the $25 cancellation fee per person. A group of 16+ people must cancel 2 weeks prior to avoid the cancellation fee of $25 per person on the reservation.
